What is a3na?

During a Consensys hackathon our team created a working concept to tokenize content contributed to a knowledge base. The team created an LLM which passes an ERC-20 token to a content creator for their contributions to a collective knowledge base each time the content was required to answer a question from a user. Effectively, creating a market for knowledge which can sit inside of any community.

Why does tokenised knowledge matter?

As soon as you can attribute who contributed to an AI result, then you can incentivise people to put in new data to make the AI better, and you can start to compensate people.

a3na is a concept to compensate people for the answers they provide to an LLM. Crypto can not only attribute an author to an answer an LLM provides, but also to pay that author. The hypothesis is, once we close this current open value loop, the value of a knowledge base will begin to grow, and the quality of the knowledge with it.

What is the problem with what community LLMs know today?

Implementing an LLM for support into a community today creates some problems:

• All content is treated the same, as a result, there is no incentive to add better or more comprehensive content.
• There is no attribution for any given answer, which reduces the confidence in the answer for the user, and means the community members contributing to the knowledge get zero monetary or social credit
• Taking all conversations that happen inside of a community and using it as a knowledge base for an LLM leads to noise in the answers (AwesomeQA model)
• The loop is very slow, between a new question to the LLM and an answer added to the knowledge base.
• A new campaign, an airdrop, a new feature release or a bug generates new questions where answers are not in a knowledge base. This is usually the bulk of support questions.
• Much of a community’s real knowledge sits in domains outside of this knowledge base eg DAO meetings recorded and posted on Spotify or x.com, or customer conversations stored inside of Intercom.
• This system does not take advantage of any previous knowledge an individual community member brings to a community.
• The knowledge base is centrally managed by a content team, as opposed to community run.

Maintaining the creator's property rights over the content results in better content being created, and more competition for more relevant content.

A community using a3na

An example: Lisa, a community manager for Yuki DAO is getting frustrated with users coming into the #general and #support channels in their discord and asking the same questions repeatedly. She becomes aware of a3na and likes it for the following reasons:

• She can purchase an LLM for their discord
• a3na aligns with the DAO’s values of rewarding community members for their knowledge and enabling property rights for content creators.
• Rewarding community members ensures that the quality of the content improves, rather than stagnates.
• Adding rewards to a smart contract is a very easy way to scale knowledge in the commmunity.
• Lisa can add knowledge by content creators outside of Yuki DAO to answer questions about block explorers and wallets (common questions in Yuki DAO)
• Any knowledge articles that are created for Yuki DAO will show up anywhere that a3na needs to answer a question about Yuki DAO. Which is good for marketing Yuki DAO products.
• a3na creates a knowledge base of content onchain, which is much more durable than the current form of dispersed articles.

She sets up an instance of the LLM. She invites the Yuki DAO champions to participate in adding content as they are trusted sources. They each create content which they believe to be common questions for the DAO.

Knowledge beyond support

One Yuki DAO champion realises that Spanish is an overlooked language in the community, and decides to carefully localize a lot of content. Another realises that there’s lots of questions about community updates and goes on to add the transcripts of the DAO community calls. They each stake their knowledge and earn rewards.

The LLM is set up as a channel in the discord. Users can DM the Yuki DAO LLM in private with questions at any point, and they are surprised at the breadth of knowledge, and the ability to see who contributed the answers.

Yuki DAO realise that they can use a3na in order to facilitate more than just support requests, and can use it as a community owned LLM to store their collective knowledge.
